Helping Communities Meet Their Potential

Community Development

Acting on behalf of a local government, the WIRC can ensure that funding opportunities for local improvements are made known to local representatives. The WIRC staff can help a community and its local government to formulate a comprehensive plan unique to its own specific community development needs. These services, plus the assistance in the implementation of projects once funded, puts the WIRC Community Development staff in a full service capacity to communities.

Solid Waste Management

The WIRC is the first to lead the region in solid waste management through the administration of the Tri-County Resource & Waste Management Council (TCR&WMC). The TCR&WMC represents and meets the solid waste management needs of incorporated and unincorporated communities in McDonough, Mercer and Warren counties. The Council continues to establish new recycling programs, expand existing programs, and provide leadership through the effort of its Solid Waste Coordinator. For more information, call the TCR&WMC office at (309) 837-3941. Click here for the TCR&WMC website.
