About Us

A large group of people are standing in front of the WIRC office building. A man in the center is holding a giant pair of scissors that are cutting a yellow ribbon which celebrates the opening of WIRC at their new office.

Welcome! We are Western Illinois Regional Council (WIRC), a western Illinois nonprofit with big goals to change people’s lives for the better. Our mission is to partner with people and communities to improve lives and neighborhoods.

We aim to accomplish our mission by providing social service programs to people in need, recycling programs to help the environment, and community development services to local elected officials.

Most importantly, we cannot accomplish our mission without people like YOU who donate their time by volunteering, give monetary donations to support our programs, or share information about our services with people who could be helped by them.

Our Approach

When providing our services, we follow a compassionate approach guided by the following principles.

Inclusive Environment
Everyone who comes through our door should feel safe and comfortable expressing their true self. Our team values and encourages diversity and inclusion.

Family-centered Services
Social service programs are not silos. Our team works together to listen to your story and find as many solutions as we can for your whole household.

Trauma-informed Services
Asking for help should not be a traumatic experience. At WIRC, our team members treat you with respect and compassion without judgment.
