Humes Celebrated for 10 Years of Service

(Macomb, Illinois, March 2023) – On March 1, team members of Western Illinois Regional Council (WIRC) celebrated Elizabeth Humes for reaching her 10-year anniversary with the Agency. Humes is the Program Assistant for the Low Income Home Energy Assistance Program (LIHEAP) and has helped thousands of people with filing energy assistance applications over the last decade.

During the recognition ceremony, Humes mentioned how her perspective has changed over the years. “This started out as ‘just a job’ to me ten years ago but it is not that anymore,” said Humes. “I have met a lot of amazing people over the years and am thankful to be making a difference in people’s lives.”

Humes began her career at WIRC as a LIHEAP Intake Worker, traveling to locations throughout the Agency’s service area to help people from all backgrounds with filing their energy assistance paperwork. She was promoted to LIHEAP Program Assistant in July 2019 and helps the LIHEAP Coordinator with managing the program and assisting people with applications.

“Elizabeth approaches her work with amazing care and diligence,” said Roger Pavey, WIRC Executive Director. “She assures all eligible households receive a benefit to make their heating costs more affordable, and we are thankful she is a part of our team.”
