Western Illinois Regional Council-Community Action Agency (WIRC-CAA) is pleased to announce that Brittany Driskell has been promoted to the position of Associate Director of Victim Services. Driskell is filling the shoes of Alisha Eidson, who stepped down from the role to pursue her dream job of working more directly in the children’s counseling field.

Driskell’s educational background is in social work and children’s counseling. She earned her bachelor’s degree in social work from Western Illinois University (WIU), and completed her practicum at WIU’s Counseling Center. She also volunteered at a local transitional house for the homeless during her college years.

In January 2022, she joined the Victim Services team as the Domestic Violence Child Counselor & Advocate. It was her job to focus on providing trauma-informed counseling and legal advocacy specifically to children of all ages who had witnessed or experienced domestic abuse. During those years, she made a strong impression with her co-workers and supervisors by consistently demonstrating her willingness to help, leadership skills, and initiative.

“I am the person that staff can come to when they need guidance on how to move forward or debrief,” said Driskell. “I am passionate about helping survivors during their healing process and being able to give staff the support they need.”

Debbie Collins, Director of Victim Services, is proud to have Driskell on her team.

“Brittany takes pride in her clients, work ethic and job knowledge,” said Collins. “She is a very good listener and is quick to take charge and help others. These great characteristics and leadership skills makes her a great addition. I am thankful to have her as a leader.”

Driskell continued that she wants more people to know about their services, and that they are not alone if they have witnessed or experienced abuse of any kind. “We want survivors to know that we believe them,” said Driskell. “As a team, we are dedicated to helping to stop the spread of domestic violence and sexual assault.”

WIRC-CAA Victim Services provides confidential crisis counseling and advocacy to survivors of sexual assault, domestic violence, and/or stalking in multiple western Illinois counties.
